Ashley Cooper has been a teacher in the Conejo Valley Unified School District for fourteen years. During this time, Ashley has taught a variety of science courses, serves as a Science Content Specialist and facilitator for the Ventura County Office of Education, has developed the VPSS Science Program, and acted as an Instructional Coach and Technology Mentor for her colleagues throughout the District.
Ashley is also dedicated to extracurricular activities as well. She has developed a school-wide tutoring program, is the Link Crew Coordinator, created the Sustainability Summit, and initiated the Friday Night Live Mentoring Program for cross-age mentoring for the District. In addition, Ashley has been the ASB Advisor, Girls Soccer Coach, serves on the School Site Council, started an all-District Student Leadership Conference, and has created multiple online courses for the District and County.
Ashley is also passionate about her work with her local teachers' association, Unified Association for Conejo Teachers. As a site rep, Ashley has worked tirelessly to protect the rights' of the teachers on her campus and those throughout the District. As part of her work with UACT, Ashley has served on the Teacher Evaluation Committee, the By-laws Committee, the RTI Committee, participated in the NEA Read Across America, served on the Conejo Schools Foundation, and has presented at various leadership events around the County and State. Ashley was selected to participate in the CTA Teacher Leadership Cohort which has provided a platform to collaborate with highly motivated educators and continue to be involved with public education at the state-level. As her Leadership Project, she developed an online book study for the book Professional Capital by Hargeaves and Fullan. Most recently, Ashley has been selected to participate as a master teacher with the Stanford/CTA Instructional Leadership Corp assisting other educators with implementing the NGSS into their daily curriculum.
