With over 27 years of experience in education, I earned my undergrad from Iowa State University in 1982, then graduated from National Louis University in 1997. Since 1991, I have been teaching at a public school in the southwestern suburbs of Chicago, with an enrollment of approximately 350 students. In November 2012, I earned National Board Certification in Early Adolescence Science and was then named Educator of the Year by the Westmont Chamber of Commerce. In spring 2013, I received a STEM grant from DuPage Regional Office of Education to facilitate a STEM after-school program for underrepresented students. On multiple occasions, I have presented professionally at the Illinois Science Teachers' Conference. My passion for education carried over into summer 2014 when I was an instructor for enrichment courses through Northwestern University's Center for Talent Development.
