Big Idea:In a chemical process, the atoms that make up the original substances are not created or destroyed, but rather regrouped into different molecules. The total number of each atom is conserved, or remains constant.
Big Idea:How do eggs and milk turn from a liquid to a solid when they are heated? Isn't it supposed to go the other way? Students learn the science behind this mystery as they denature proteins through the application of heat and chemicals.
Big Idea:Students have spent a great deal of time learning about the chemistry of cooking. This 2 week, project-based lesson will serve as a culminating activity which will allow students to show what they know.
