Big Idea:It is critical for students to "remember" that their observations serve them well and lead to questions and problems that can be investigated in a scientific way. This lesson provides the space and interest to explore and question.
Big Idea:Simply watching crayfish and gathering data through careful observation are different skills. Students will delight in thinking of experiments to carry out in order to observe crayfish in this lesson.
Big Idea:It is critical to give students time to engage in observation of life in order for them to make real sense of it. This lesson allows for that time, as well as it provides a structure for students to form theories about behavior.
Big Idea:This session will engage students in compiling information, observations, and investigation data about life cycles, structures and functions, and care of living animals, in order to present to our first graders. This is a performance assessment.
