I have been a 3rd grade teacher at Keith Elementary in the Walled Lake Consolidated School District since 2002. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Teaching and Curriculum, both from Michigan State University. I am an alumni of the Galileo Teacher Leadership Academy, a member of my school's Leadership Team, and an active member in planning and facilitating our Professional Learning Community (PLC) work. I was recently chosen to participate in Walled Lake's Instructional Council (iCouncil), which is a diverse group of administrative and teacher leaders that are working together to define good instruction and implement the latest research-based best practices throughout the district. In 2008, I was named Keith Elementary's Teacher of the Year and was first runner-up for Walled Lake's District Teacher of the Year in 2009. My ultimate passion is developing engaging lessons and creating effective materials that will prepare students to meet National Standards in all academic areas. My ultimate goal is to use my passion and teacher leadership skills to make a lasting, positive impact in the education field, while remaining in a classroom. My ultimate hope is that there will be more opportunities created for teacher leaders in the near future.
