It took some time, but after graduating from Dickinson College in 2001, I finally found what I loved doing--teaching! Starting in an urban charter school setting, I honed the basic skills needed to implement sound lessons and interact with kids. After earning my M.A.T. from Simmons College, I embarked on a new journey teaching 6th grade science at Bird Middle School in E. Walpole, MA. Over the years I have been selected to participate in some wonderful Fellowships, including the NASA Endeavor Science Certificate Project (Cohort 2) and the Siemens STEM Academy Fellowship (2013). I have recently been published three times in the NSTA Science Scope Journal and really love interacting with colleagues from around the country. If you would like to expand your Professional Learning Network, please consider following me on Twitter @STEMatBirdMS. Together we can share our experiences implementing the NGSS and create great learning opportunities for our students!
