Big Idea:Energy and matter are so closely related that we often have a difficulty distinguishing the two. This lesson helps students experience heat transfer so that they can explain how it affects matter and molecular motion.
Big Idea:This activity gives students the ability to closely observe the structure of matter and identify the processes that cause each change of state. They will also observe and explain why ice acts as it does.
Big Idea:This assessment places the emphasis on the practices required to arrive at correctly identifying minerals, based on their densities. Using simulations helps mimic the practices needed to perform these tasks.
Big Idea:Talking about matter conservation and experiencing various models of the Law are two very different things. Our job is to get our kids to experience phenomena and then build off of them in later lessons. This lesson sets the stage for future inquiry.
