Big Idea:With two days to think about bunny population problems, students reach a much deeper understanding of how exponential growth works and are able to use the concept of “going backwards in time” to make meaning of negative exponents.
Big Idea:Students develop systematic methods to solve problems involving exponential equations that they write themselves. They make meaning of word problems and negative exponents in order to solve problems in context.
Big Idea:Students expand their understanding of exponential functions by connecting these to the exponential growth and decay situations they explored yesterday. They develop methods to determine whether or not a data table shows an exponential function.
Big Idea:We know that the more times you compound the interest in a year, the more money you will have in your account. Does it keep increasing forever? What happens if you compound infinitely many times?
