Big Idea:The students will be using real life data to create and analyze histograms. They will be surveying their classmates and using data from other grade levels to compare same topic information in a histogram.
Big Idea:The students will be working with mean and learning about variablility. They will be making connections to real life applications to help assist them in making a connection to mean absolute deviation.
Big Idea:The students will be working in centers to review for their test. The centers will consist of a computer rotation, versa-tiles, and a teacher center. All centers will reinforce concepts learned throughout this unit to prepare them for their assessment.
Big Idea:The students will be collecting data from other students to represent in a bar graph. If available, they can then use a computer program called Bar Grapher tool to show their data with a different layout.
Big Idea:This lesson will allow the student to work through three stations. The stations will focus on creating and analyzing circle graphs. The students will be using technology to create their graphs along with a hands on activity using M & M’s.
Big Idea:This activity is designed so that the students create their own Around the Room activity. They will be collecting data, displaying it in a stem and leaf plot, and then developing questions around their display for other students to answer!
