Big Idea:Students will learn what theme means and how they can determine the theme of a story by drawing on details within the text to determine theme. They will also learn that there can be multiple themes for a text.
Big Idea:"The Whipping Boy" is a literary masterpiece! However, without background information, it will be difficult for the students to understand. Students will learn what background knowledge is as well as build the schema they need to understand the text.
Big Idea:In this lesson, students will get to work with a partner as they read the next section in our "Greek Myths" books by Heather Amery. They also be comparing and contrasting the written version of Pandora's Box with a video clip version.
