The Recipe for a Great Word Problem

Unit 1: Addition and Subtraction Basic Training

Objective: Students will be able to choose a mathematical operation, create a number sentence, write a word problem for that number sentence, and draw an accurate picture to display that number sentence.

Big Idea: The big idea of this lesson is to have students write their own word problems to help them have a better understanding of mathematical operations, as they relate to real world scenarios.
