# Determine missing coordinates given slope

Unit 10: SLOPE REVISITED

Lesson 1 of 3

Lesson 1 of 3

## Objective: SWBAT determine missing coordinates given the slope of a line.

## Big Idea: You've found slope before, given two points. But what if I gave you one point and the slope? Could you find the other point?

Subject(s):

Math, modeling, Algebra, slope (Linear Equations), 8th grade, slopes, linear equations, interpreting graphs

#### Warm Up

*10 min*

Today's Warm Up is a Mad Math Minute.

For an overview of the structure of the entire lesson, watch my Lesson Structure Overview video.

At this point in the year, I wanted to experiment with driving procedural fluency. In this case, I wanted to not only work on a speed drill - for example, single-digit multiplication facts - but also see, in a teacher-as-researcher moment, whether or not fluency is correlated with math average overall. Please see the reflection section for a discussion of the results of this informal experiment.
