Perimeter vs. Area

Unit 8: Geometry
Lesson 2 of 19

Objective: SWBAT: • Determine whether to calculate perimeter or area. • Calculate the perimeter and area of rectangles and squares using the correct units. • Identify and define acute, right, obtuse, and straight angles.

Big Idea: You need to build a fence around your yard and put in new grass. How would the perimeter and area help you do this? Students work to determine when to calculate perimeter and when to calculate area.
