Reflection: Adjustments to Practice Coincidences and Consequences - Section 2: Application


I still haven't perfected this lesson.  As eager as I was to present this cool story by supplementing it with a lesson plan, I don't think I've done it justice, yet.  The three warm up coincidences printed up too tiny- I regret that the inappropriate coincidence kept me from putting them on the Smart Board in a clear way. Also, the first example I chose should have been placed last because it was everyone's, "Ahh" coincidence, thereby causing the excitement level to go down instead of up with each new coincidence.

The story of the girls is intriguing, regardless, but next year I will have them read the main article silently in order to get the most out of it.  I say this because by the time I read the article out loud, the kids were less focused.  Giving them the responsibility of reading independently would take care of that.  I do love their personal stories of coincidence.  That part was a great success.
