## Reflection: Complex Tasks Fractions; Fourths - Section 2: Whole Group Interaction

It is not enough to just show students how objects can be divided into certain quantities. First Graders also need to have interaction with dividing quantities into fractional pieces. The video in the resource section shows a perfect example for when we divided the pizza into halves, yet when I asked them to check the pepperoni's and if they were divided in half. The kids saw that they were not. There was 13 on one side and 7 on another. This is great and very important to point out to them.

# Fractions; Fourths

Unit 7: Fractions
Lesson 3 of 5

## Big Idea: I want my students to develop a strong foundation in fractions. Today we will work on dividing items into regional parts of fourths. Also, I will discuss a fourths synonym (quarter) and engage my students in using this new terminology.
