Reflection: Staircase of Complexity Socratic Seminar about Song of the Trees - Section 1: Lesson Opener

If I have a class who has a lot of students who are uncomfortable about talking in front of the class that mean they have not practiced enough. In order to teach Socratic Seminar, I have done the following: students have presented individually or with groups (text structures project), they have engaged in debate (unit before this ones), and consistently talk with partners about their academic work.

Before they do seminar for the day, it is important that they rehearse some questions (as shown in my academic engagement), but some groups may need more rehearsal. For example they can rehearse with their partners, then in groups of 4, then in groups of 8 before they come to the seminar.
