Reflection: Checks for Understanding Elements of Life in Harlem During the 1920's and 1930's: Analyzing Poems to Discover Harlem Renaissance Poets’ Point of view and Purpose - Section 4: Student Activity Harlem Wine

I was very pleased at my student's answers on the activity sheet but especially on question #4. His metaphor of "sugar" to explain the life and times of this era was right on target!  He demonstrated his clear understanding of the use of figurative language as well as the point of view the author was expressing through the metaphor of wine and its comparison to the Harlem Renaissance.  Teacher's teach for these moments.
