Reflection: Student Ownership The Happy Lion Part 2 - Section 2: Shared Inquiry Discussion

 

    Students were asked to conduct self-critique of their Shared Inquiry discussion using a shared inquiry rubric.  The rubric (see source) measures conduct, speaking & Reasoning, Listening, and Knowledge of content. After completing the rubric, students explained why they rated their performance the way they did.  Their elaboration were very specific and details their plan for improvements.

Objective: SWBAT participate in collaborative conversations by linking comments to others' remarks, elaborating on topics, and clarifying text under discussion.

Big Idea: How do shared inquiry discussions deepen knowledge ? Students participate in Shared Inquiry discussions revolving around an interpretive question in order to deepen knowledge of text by discussing multiple perspectives.
