Reflection: Lesson Planning New Words and Connecting Ideas - Section 3: Let's Get Excited!

As we discuss the meaning of words in this lesson, I emphasize that the 'bold words' are words that the author wants us to notice. This text feature is important for students to notice. Often, second graders glean over the text, not noticing the bold words and other text features. Take time to help students attend to these bold words and think about why the author featured these.

As we make a list of the words on the board, we continue to discuss the definitions and how the words bring meaning to the text.

Lesson Planning: Did anyone see the bold words?
