Reflection: Lesson Planning What Words can we use to Define Success? - Section 1: Read Aloud

The read aloud can take some time, so I might break it up as an end of day activity over the course of a few days or I will only select a few of the characteristics to focus on and not read the other pages.

By selecting to focus on a few characteristics, students can spend more time defining and determing examples of those characteristics. Sometimes, I have students look for students who are showing only two characteristics for the day. I might even have students focus on "characteristic of the day".

I make these decisions based on the stamina of my students. Students who have experience with these words seem to have more stamina and are able to focus on more characteristics at a time. However, if most of these words are new to most of the class, then I only focus on a few at a time.

  We might need more time.
