Reflection: Backwards Planning 'Prezi'nt the Ideas As You Imagine the Concepts - Section 4: Discussion and Examples

I taught this lesson by demonstrating how to make a Prezi on my computer and let the kids make them on the iPads.

In retrospect, creating a Prezi on the computer is too hard for kids. The website allows you to download google images, create arrows and lines and has many templates to choose from. Here's the Prezi layout and Prezi with title that I created.

If I had a professional presentation, I would definitely want these features, but it's too overwhelming for the kids.

The iPad version was GREAT and my kids did super creating their own Prezi. The kids use images they shot from the book and there are no lines and connectors offered, so ultimately it was 'doable' for the kids. I would definitely recommend trying this app and letting the kids make their own Prezi with guidance about organization and examples of what to take pictures of.

My other recommendation about using this app is to make sure that you limit the wording that the kids have to type. Second graders do not type fast, so I really limited the wording so they are not spending all of their time typing.

I have 2 other lessons using the Prezi app in other ways. Feel free to check out 'Prezi'nt Images about Social Studies' and 'Prezi'nt about Citizenship'.
