## Reflection: Developing a Conceptual Understanding Absolute Value Functions: Transformations Day 2 - Section 1: Warm Up and Homework Check

Solving equations both algebraically and graphically is new to my students this year.  While we solved linear equations graphically in the last unit, my student have not yet graphed the solution to an absolute value equation.  The goal of this warm up is that they take what they learned in yesterday's lesson on transformations of absolute value functions to solve the equation.  Many students caught on and used the transformations appropriately such as in Student Work 1 and Student Work 2.  Others had the concept but didn't execute the problem properly like Student Work 3.  One student, as seen in Student Work 4, hadn't made the connection but tried to use the algebraic solution to compensate.
