Reflection: Student Grouping Putting it all Together - Section 4: Collaborative Activity


In any type of activity that you allow students to form their own groups it is important to note who joins whose group, not just because you want the work to get done in a timely neat manner, but you need to be aware of social situations as well.  In my featured 'Boys' group I was worried that there would be a lot of arguing and little sharing going on, primarily because of the social make up of the group.  Surprisingly, they actually created a very impressive product and did an excellent job presenting.  Which made me wonder, if it is not 'The Boys', but the types of activities they were involved with.  I could go on here, but I will cut it short by saying on the playground these guys are very competitive, on independent work they vie for attention, but in this activity they did well.
