## Reflection: Connection to Prior Knowledge Translating Algebraic Expressions and Equations - Section 1: Do Now

After the checking the do now, I asked students to think about what they know about algebra and what questions they have.  I took a few minutes to have students share out their comments and questions.  I recorded their ideas during this brainstorm on the whiteboard.  Students seemed excited to share what they already knew and to start algebra.  Many of my kids see algebra as a rite of passage into more complex and sophisticated math.
