Reflection: Adjustments to Practice Emily Dickinson: Simplicity of Language--A Life in Isolation - Section 3: The Poetry of Emily Dickinson: Reading "I Heard Fly Buzz"

As we ran out of time in class today, much of this section of the lesson will be carried over to tomorrow. I've found flexibility is always needed, in terms of both adapting to students' reading of and reaction to the material.

Emily Dickinson: Simplicity of Language--A Life in Isolation

Unit 13: Literacy: Figurative Language in the Poetry of Whitman & Dickinson
Lesson 2 of 6

Objective: SWBAT interpret figures of speech through drawing inferences from Emily Dickinson's diction.

Big Idea: Literal meaning and implied meaning can create confusion in readers; Dickinson's poetic descriptions of common things illustrate this to provide understanding for students.
