Reflection: High Quality Task "Snow" Long Ago: The Second Close Read of Snowflake Bentley - Section 3: Sharing and Evaluating

 

OK... so the students didn't perform so well on the second part of the first question that asked how the setting influenced the neighbors point of view.  We have studied point of view, perspective and they know what setting is.  You would think they would just have to put it all together, however, that' s not how it worked out.  

It seems that my little scholars could tell exactly what the neighbors meant by the quote, "common as dirt"- perhaps due to the background knowledge lesson??  It seems I may have to focus more on setting and how it affects a text in future readings.
