Reflection: Modeling Let's Write About the American Flag! - Section 2: Interact with text/concept

 

I do a sample writing piece so that students can see and hear what their completed writing should look and sound like.  I stress the process of going back to the map, talking off the map and writing off the map.  Students see that all the words they need are already on their map.  They just need to pick which ones they want to use in their sentences!
