This lesson was fun.  Everyone has had at least one SUPER exciting birthday party that they can relate to.  They can relate to the preparations and excitement for the party in the story.  I like the story because the main character Cecelia is the same age as my students.  They can relate to wanting to give a present and not having the means to buying or making one.
