Reflection: Intervention and Extension Generating Ideas for a Persuasive Essay - Section 3: Independent Practice


Instead of just a turn and talk, I had students create a checklist in the column of their writing. I had them write down, "paragraphs? are my sentences structured correctly? does my claim make sense?" and jot two check boxes next to the phrases. I had them read over their own work and check the boxes and then give to a partner to check.
