Reflection: Student Ownership The Dress Code Debate Research Preparation - Section 4: Closure

During this lesson, students were provided an opportunity to research information about the dress code debate and complete a reader response log.  I found it to be more efficient to allow students to work in small groups rather than as individuals in order to facilitate them completing the assignment.  I wanted them to try to complete the assignment during class because they would not have an opportunity to take the text home with because I only had one set of Scholastic News magazines.  Also, some students don't have access to computers at home and transportation is an issue for them to go to the public library.
