## Reflection: Grappling with Complexity Elapsed Time - What Time Will I Get Home? - Section 3: Wrap Up

Addition with time stops at sixty minutes and twelve hours, and it is difficult for the students to make this switch when addition in base ten has been the standard.  This switch can be very difficult and complex for the students to understand.  Adding to this complexity is the lack of experiences and exposure to analog clocks in daily life.  Some students are more familiar with this skill, and others struggle.  Several of the students would add time using benchmarks and refer to time as 7:60 or 2:60, rather than 8:00 or 3:00.  I will need to provide additional experiences using analog clocks.
