Reflection: Lesson Planning What's Your Problem? Problem and Solution Text Structure - Section 6: Closure

My check for understanding shows that the students are really understanding the text structure. I'll work with students in small groups to make sure they can distinguish between the 4 structures learned so far, but they were able to accurately identify the problem and solution in the paragraph. Next year, when I condense my overview of the structures, I plan to combine the structures for the quick checks. I only wanted a quick glance at their abilities, so I didn't add in longer passages for these concepts.

What's Your Problem? Problem and Solution Text Structure

Unit 3: Tearing Into Informational Text Part II
Lesson 3 of 12

Objective: SWBAT identify the elements of the problem and solution text structure and understand why an author would use it.

Big Idea: But I thought Problem and Solution was only in fiction? It's a nonfiction structure as well, but looks a little different.
