Reflection: Checks for Understanding Setting: Where and when? Prove it - Section 4: Closing

When I graded the Setting Guides from this lesson, most students did a nice job providing where and when the story took place along with evidence to prove how they knew. Many students, however, struggled with the last part where they had to explain how the setting impacts the story. When I returned these to students the next day, it was important to discuss this part and share some of the great explanations. I also gave the class a chance to discuss their books with a few other students to see if they could help each other answer that question. For next time, I may consider changing this part of the Guide to something more kid-friendly, perhaps with the language or the concept.
