Reflection: Backwards Planning Operation Fact and Opinion - Section 2: Fact or Opinion??? How Do We Know??

So, this is an example of a lesson that proves that backwards planning is essential.  If I had given this fact and opinion pretest and my students had aced it, why would I then force them to sit through lessons on a topic they already know?  Since I do use backwards planning, I had both activities ready to go.  People always say flexibility is key to being a good teacher, but I would temper flexibility with preparation.  Backwards planning provides you with the flexibility AND preparation to move in any direction your students need.
