Reflection: Student Grouping Winter Holidays: Pulling it all Together - Section 3: Interview

 

I chose to pre-assign partners for this activity. Because I wanted to include several parts to the lesson, I tried to streamline each part as much as possible. Although I’m always a proponent for student choice, sometimes giving students full choice isn’t the most time efficient. By choosing partnerships for students, I avoided the time involved with not only finding a partner, but then making sure that each member of a group was partners with someone of a different holiday group.

Objective: SWBAT determine how five major holidays are the same and how they are different.

Big Idea: After researching a winter holiday, students will work independently, in partners, and small groups to determine how their chosen holiday is similar to four others.
