Reflection: Relevance Main Idea Seals and Healing Paws - Section 3: Partner Work


First grades seem to be very curious about the location of the states and countries.  While working on in the small groups several students ask me, "Where is Hawaii?"  Really, I am often pulling up maps, but having a big world map close the the reading lesson area would be my suggestion to make the connections that seem to occur in reading. If the map is close students will easily being to learn geography in context which is one big thing Common Core promotes.  Learning subject matter in context is more meaningful and helps my class remember the things we discuss.
