Reflection: Grappling with Complexity Putting Together A Third Draft by Concentrating on Analysis - Section 4: Closing

This exercise in practicing analysis was really challenging for my students. This is such an important skill and Common Core Standard that we will continue to practice. All students need to continue to practice analysis for high school, college and career.

When I saw how much my students were struggling with this today, I though to myself, "Oh goodness, I should have started teaching this to them for the first draft!" Then I remembered that it would have been too much because I needed to teach how to place evidence in an essay and cite it properly.

Overall, I am happy with their first attempt and know I will see continued progress in their final. Additionally we will continue to practice analysis for the next writing project.
