Reflection: Intervention and Extension Writing Great Topic and Concluding Sentences (Day 2 of 2) - Section 4: Student's Take A Turn


The students that I have differ in language level, which really shows up when we are writing. As they work on these paragraphs, its important for me to use 'teachable moments' to differentiate instruction.

This student had the opportunity to use a contraction and I explained that with his writing. Another student had more language ability, generalizing contractions more fully in her writing. For that student, the teachable moment might go beyond these simple contractions to using more adjectives or higher level vocabulary.
