I realized after watching the video of the student presentation that I could have questioned them about which was an easier strategy to help them solve, or to explain why they chose the 2 models they did. Some questions to use for student presentations include:

How else could you check your answer?

What would happen if.....?

How would you estimate the outcome?

Is that a reasonable solution for these answers?
