Reflection: ELL Students Earthquake Terror: Continuing to Make Strong Inferences - Section 1: Cue Set

 

This was super concrete practice for my ELL students.  It REALLY helped them to understand that when you inference, you need to use evidence from the text (or in this case, a picture).  They noticed that the dog was outside, and that influenced their inference because they thought that it might be an animal instead of being an intruder to the house.  This helped them to be more observant about details in the text when we applied this to the lesson.
