Reflection: Rigor Cinderella Here, Cinderella There, Cinderella Everywhere Day 3 of 5 - Section 2: Completing Venn Diagram

This was the first cornerstone lesson. I feel the students did an amazing job working independently completing their Venn diagrams of comparing and contrasting their versions of Cinderella as I worked with a smaller group of students. I did find the time to walk around and give them feedback. It can be easy to leave students alone who are consistently doing well. But they too need feedback. So as I walked I praised them but also gave them feedback. I gave them 20 minutes to accomplish the task and for most of them this was adequate time. For my small group it was crucial I was there to guide them to start. While the independent group could guide themselves in terms of what element of the stories they were comparing and contrasting this small group benefitted from, "I can see you finished contrasting the setting, what is next? What can you compare and/or contrast next?" I will continue to give them this type of attention.
