Reflection: Intervention and Extension Combinations, Day 2 - Section 2: Center Time

 

I wanted to include a quick note about Logan.  He is starting to understand and use the counting on strategy but still had some confusions about it.  If you watch the video Logan 1 you will see that he was trying to use the strategy but still trying to put both numbers on his fingers.  I did an intervention and then let him work with it for a few minutes.  I then ant back and asked him to model the strategy again.  If you watch the video Logan 2, you will see how the intervention helped him move on with the strategy.

Unit 2: Working with Numbers, Operations, and Story Problems
Lesson 4 of 11

Objective: SWBAT solve a problem in which the total and one part are known. SWBAT prove that all the combinations of a given sum have been found.

Big Idea: Can they count on? That will be the determined after you interact with students through two engaging unknown addend activities.
