## Reflection: Intervention and Extension Solving Two Variable Inequalities - Section 4: Closure

Ever have one of those lessons where the students just didn't catch on?  Today was one of those days.  The opening for this lesson went really well but took much longer than expected.  As a result, students did not get sufficient time on the investigation.

Looking at the attached student work from the ticket out you can see that there are some serious misunderstandings about how to represent the solution for a two variable inequality.

I think it came down to the fact that students were having a great deal of trouble graphing the boundary line (or knowing that they had to graph a boundary line).  They were thinking that they could just use x and y-values that made the inequality true.  This, of course, led to points that could be all over the grid.

This year, I am going to need a "solving-two-variable-inequalities part 2" to fill in the gaps from this lesson.
