## Reflection: Student Ownership Operation with Vectors - Section 1: Bellwork

In each of my classes I have 2-3 students who are taking Physics.  These students have worked with vectors.  In one class I had a student ask if he could explain how to add and subtract vectors.  I readily agreed.  This student is willing to share his reasoning and structures with the class.

The student went through what I would have demonstrated but used terminology that the physics teacher had used. The students sketches were small but his explanation was complete.  I wish I had videotaped the presentation to share.

It is fun to watch a student explain an idea.  Most of the students are willing to ask questions of the student. This willingness to share as well as the willingness to question each other has been fostered throughout the school year and was evident during this lesson.
