Reflection: Connection to Prior Knowledge Landforms Vocabulary - Section 2: Independent Practice

 

I included a spiral review of using illustrations to gain information at the bottom of page 4. I wanted to guide students in using all of the text features, such as the illustrations, to help them gain a better understanding of the text. I had them write about the natural resources identified in the text and draw a picture. This served as an assessment on whether or not they understood prior learning about natural resources, a concept they had learned two weeks ago. Drawing pictures engaged my visual learners. They were able to show what they had learned in a different way.
