Reflection: Rigor Wake Me Up: Poetry through song - Section 2: Teaching Strategy


This song has many rigorous and complex metaphors.  It was PERFECT because scholars were able to really dig deep into the text and unpack what a "beating heart" might be in the context of this song.  It was helpful to use a song that some scholars already had heard/seen the music video because it helped them to make more meaning of the metaphors given their background experiences.  

Scholars did a great job at identifying the metaphors and digging deep!
