Reflection: What Gives? - Section 2: Independent Practice


It was an effective, strategic move to post the chart in the room at student eye-level. As students worked, some of them would walk over to it to check the proper tense if they were unsure. Having this resource enabled them to demonstrate independence by checking their own work without the aid of the teacher. This level of independence is something I strive to instill in my students because life-long academic success depends on one’s ability to self-monitor his/her own learning and seek help when needed.
