Reflection: Developing a Conceptual Understanding Story Wheel - Section 3: Partner Work


The work (Group Work) in the resources did not clearly understand that the story wheel started at a certain point.  I needed to make it clear where to start. The students were placing their details on the circle but not in the correct order.  After I questioned them they realized that the story did need to start from the beginning.  

Questioning is nice because it allows them to answer their own questions and fix errors in their work in a constructive way.  The questioning is the video (Work Sample 1) is a nice example of how discourse can lead a learner to the correct conclusion.  I always tell my students we learn more from what we get wrong than what we get right.
