Reflection: Grappling with Complexity Looking at Different Multiplication Methods - Section 3: Concept development


As seen in this reflection video, this lesson went well. If I could have a bowl full of math wishes, this is definitely one lesson where I'd wish for more time with my students. I would love to extend this to 90 minutes. 


I'a m anxious to see how my students did on the homework.  I'm hopeful that the methods they practiced today will extend to their homework. I'm predicting that most students will  complete the two problems using the area model, which is perfectly fine and expected at this point.  With more practice, many of my students will make great transitions to the numeric methods and be well set up for then transitioning to the standard algorithm.
