Reflection: Performance Tasks What is Your Pumpkin? - Section 5: Wrap Up

This writing activity is a performance task.  I am able to observe if they understood the assignment.  Could they write the sentences?  Could they read the sentences?  The end of the lesson is my favorite part.  I love listening to them read their sentences to each other.  I am thinking that lesson would have been perfect for producing and expanding their sentences.  This is one standard that the first grade teachers ask us to teach our kindergarteners.

For example:

I have a pumpkin.

I have a red pumpkin.

I have a red triangle pumpkin.

I have a red triangle happy pumpkin.

Hmmm, I may have to do this next year.
